Creating a backup Partition

This is still a work in progress, busy ironing out all the problems, will do a complete post, or edit this one as soon as everything is working a 100%.

You know those "press F11 for automatic system recovery" that comes with most laptops, well im busy creating that for selfbuild (non OEM) computers, this will make restoring when a virus has messed up a system alot easier.

Oh and best of all, im going to use only free / opensource applications.

So far, i have

  • Created the 2 partitions,
  • Installed XP on the first partition,
  • Created the .WIM of the image on the second hard drive,
  • Created a Dual Boot between XP and WinPE,
  • Scripted the batches for auto recovery

TODO:
  • Create the "press f11 key in the MBR"
  • Start testing to see if this works on other computers than the test PC,
Will be editing this as i progress,

Shaun

  3. Hmm, that sounds pretty helpful... Luckily enough I don´t get loads of viruses in the first place though...
